SimpleConnect (“SimpleConnect”, “we”, “us”) helps you keep in touch with the people you meet: you capture notes, and we organize them and tell you who to follow up with. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. It covers simpleconnect.app, our integrations (such as the Telegram bot and iPhone Shortcuts) and the emails we send — together, the “Service”.

1.Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. When you sign in with an email link, we receive your email address. We don’t use passwords.

What you capture

The notes you type, the voice notes you record and the screenshots or other images you add or send us — plus what we derive from them: transcripts; the people, facts, dates and follow-ups we extract; suggestions of who to contact; message drafts; and a search index of your notes. We keep the text of each capture — what you typed, the transcript of a voice note, or the text read from an image — so you can always see where a detail came from. The original voice recording or image is deleted automatically 30 days after the capture is processed.

Information about other people

SimpleConnect is designed to hold information about the people you know — names, roles, where they live, what you talked about, birthdays and plans. You decide what to record. You’re responsible for having the right to record and use this information (for example, a lawful basis under the data protection laws that apply to you) and for treating the people it describes fairly. Please don’t record sensitive details — such as someone’s health, religion or sexual orientation — unless you have a good reason and the right to do so.

Imported contacts

If you import contacts from a file, such as a CSV exported from Google Contacts or LinkedIn, we store the contact details it contains.

Settings and connected services

Your preferences — such as your timezone, when and where you get your digest, reminder rules and notes on how you like to write. If you connect Telegram, we store your Telegram account ID and username, and the messages you send our bot. If you set up iPhone capture, we store only a hashed version of your capture token.

Billing information

Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your Stripe customer ID and the details of your subscription, such as plan, status and renewal date. We never see or store your full card number.

Usage and technical information

Like most online services, our hosting provider processes technical information — such as your IP address, browser type and request logs — to deliver and secure the Service. We count how much you use certain features (for example, captures and AI requests per day) to apply fair-use limits, and we record when you last used the app. We use Plausible Analytics to count visits to our website and a few product events, such as sign-ups, in aggregate; it doesn’t use cookies or collect personal data.

When you contact us

If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.

2.Cookies and local storage

We use only essential cookies: the ones that keep you signed in and protect the sign-in process. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We also keep a few preferences, such as your light or dark theme, in your browser’s local storage.

3.How we use your information

  • To provide the Service — storing your people and notes, showing them to you and making them searchable.
  • To organize your captures with AI — transcribing voice notes, reading screenshots, extracting people, facts and follow-ups, matching them to people you already know, suggesting who to reach out to and drafting messages in your style. See AI processing.
  • To send you what you asked for — sign-in links; your morning digest of who to reach out to (by email, or Telegram if you connect it), which is on by default and can be turned off in Settings; capture confirmations; and billing notices.
  • To keep you posted about your account — a few emails about your trial and plan, such as a welcome note, a reminder before your trial ends and, if you don’t subscribe, an occasional check-in afterwards. While your account is paused, your daily digest becomes a weekly summary of who’s due for a follow-up, without drafts. Each of these emails has a one-click opt-out. Sign-in links and important account and billing emails are always sent.
  • To run billing — managing your trial, subscription and payments.
  • To keep the Service safe and working — preventing abuse, applying fair-use limits, and investigating bugs and security issues.
  • To understand and improve the Service — looking at usage information, such as how many people and captures an account has or which features get used, to fix problems and help people get started. We look at counts like these, not at what your notes say. We may also write to you personally — for example, to ask how it’s going after you sign up.

No one at SimpleConnect reads your notes unless you ask us to — for example, to help with a support request. The only exceptions are investigating abuse or a security problem, or when the law requires it. We don’t sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

5.AI processing

SimpleConnect uses Google’s Gemini API to understand your captures and write drafts:

  • When you capture something, its text, audio or images are sent to Gemini, together with the names, roles and cities of people already in your account so it can tell who you mean.
  • When we build your search index, suggest who to contact or draft a message, the relevant details about that person (such as their name, role, city and recent facts) and your notes on how you write are sent to Gemini.

We use Gemini as a paid service. Under Google’s terms for paid use of the Gemini API, Google processes this content to return results to us and does not use it to improve its products or train its models. Google may keep prompts and responses for a limited period (currently up to 55 days) solely to detect abuse.

We don’t use your content to train AI models, and we don’t sell it. AI can make mistakes, so SimpleConnect asks you to review anything it isn’t sure about, lets you undo any change, and never sends a message on your behalf — sending is always your call.

6.Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run SimpleConnect, only as much as each one needs, and under terms that require them to protect it:

Google Cloud (Gemini API)
AI transcription, extraction, search indexing and message drafting.Content you capture and relevant details about people in your account.

Plausible Analytics
Privacy-friendly website and product analytics.Aggregate page views and product events, such as sign-ups. No cookies and no personal data.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it; to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or SimpleConnect; or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we’ll tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7.How long we keep it

  • While your account is open, we keep your data so the Service can work — including after a trial ends, so you can come back to it or export it.
  • Voice notes and images: the original recording or image is deleted automatically 30 days after the capture is processed. Its text — what you typed, the transcript, or the text read from the image — and the details extracted from it stay with your account.
  • Deleting items: you can delete people, facts and follow-ups at any time. The text of the captures they came from stays in your capture history until you delete your account.
  • Deleting your account: Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account and everything in it from our database — people, notes, captures (including any voice notes and images not yet deleted), follow-ups, suggestions and settings. It also cancels any active subscription automatically, so you won’t be charged again.
  • Backups: deleted data can remain in our database provider’s encrypted backups for a limited time, until they’re overwritten on their regular schedule.
  • Billing records: Stripe and we keep records of payments for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
  • Already delivered: emails and Telegram messages we’ve sent you stay in your inbox or chat until you delete them.

8.Your choices and rights

  • Export: download everything as JSON, or your people as CSV, from Settings → Your data.
  • Correct: edit anything directly in the app.
  • Delete: delete individual items, or your whole account, from the app.
  • Email: turn off the digest in Settings, or use the one-click unsubscribe link in any digest, weekly summary or account-lifecycle email.
  • Telegram: disconnect it at any time in Settings.

Depending on where you live — for example, in the EEA, the UK or California — you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise a right you can’t use yourself in the app, email us at support@simpleconnect.app. We’ll respond within the time the law requires, and we won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

We don’t sell or “share” personal information, as those terms are defined under California law.

Not a SimpleConnect user? If you believe someone has recorded information about you in SimpleConnect, you can ask them to update or delete it. You can also contact us at support@simpleconnect.app, and we’ll help where we can.

9.Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (by our database provider), sign-in through Google or one-time email links instead of passwords, hashed capture tokens, and access limited to what’s needed to run the Service.

SimpleConnect is not end-to-end encrypted: our systems need to read your notes to organize them and draft messages. No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we’ll notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

10.International transfers

We and our service providers process information in the United States and other countries, whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. When we transfer personal information out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses included in our providers’ data processing terms.

11.Children

SimpleConnect isn’t meant for children. You must be at least 16 years old to use it, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

12.Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy as SimpleConnect changes. If we make material changes, we’ll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
